game of thrones season 4 episode 5 first of his name ratings arya hbo 'Game of Thrones' Season 4 reaches another ratings high with 'First of His Name'“Game of Thrones” Season 4 continues to grow bigger and bigger, and for the first time has crossed the 7 million live viewers mark with its ratings.

Sunday’s (May 4) episode, “First of His Name,” brought in 7.2 million viewers during its first live viewing, Entertainment Weekly reports. Including encore showings for the night, that number rose to 8.6 million viewers.
All season, “Game of Thrones'” viewership has grown in leaps and bounds. The premiere brought in 6.6 million viewers, then that number jumped to 6.9 million viewers for episode 4, and then reached this new high for episode 5.
That boost came off the much-discussed reveal of the White Walker king, but “First of His Name” was a slower episode. It wouldn’t be surprising if ratings dipped a bit for episode 6, “The Laws of Gods and Men,” though they also might continue to rise as that is Tyrion Lannister’s trial.

But “Game of Thrones” wasn’t the only HBO series performing well on May 4. “Silicon Valley” earned 1.8 million viewers (2.1 million for the night), “Veep” hit a season-high of 1 million viewers (1.4 million for the night) and “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” climbed to 1.2 million viewers (1.5 million for the night) in its second episode.
