The last time Zap2it caught up with Jason Bateman, Netflix was only days away from premiering “Arrested Development” Season 4. Eight months have passed since the Bluths returned at long last, but since then there hasn’t been much talk about when — or if — Season 5 will be made.

Netflix was quick to say it’s open to more seasons after Season 4 premiered, and creator Mitch Hurwitz said he wants to revisit the project every two to three years. By July, producer Brian Grazer said they were in talks with Netflix for Season 5, but Hurwitz later said in October that he wants to do a movie before a new season.

So where do we stand now? Bateman — an Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award nominee for Season 4 of “Arrested” — has no idea.

“That’s absolutely out of my hands. No one’s talked to me about any of it,” he tells Zap2it while promoting the new NBC comedy “Growing Up Fisher,” which he executive produces and narrates, during the TCA 2014 winter press tour. “But Mitch Hurwitz and [Netflix’s] Ted Sarandos would be the two who would really be driving that agenda. My ears are wide open if they ever want to talk to me about it.”

After a big surge in excitement leading up to Season 4 premiering in its entirety on Netflix, the buzz around the series has dropped off a bit. But Bateman says he hasn’t been paying attention to the momentum surrounding the series from a fan perspective.

“I’m the last person to ask about that. I’m not good at sort of gauging the zeitgeist. All I know is that I love doing it. I love doing anything with any of those guys,” he says. “We were just at the SAGs last night, all around the table together, and it was just a blast.”

“Growing Up Fisher,” which Bateman is producing and narrating, premieres on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT after the Olympics on NBC. It will then shift to its regular 9:30 p.m. Tuesday timeslot on Feb. 25.
