At long last, Jennifer Lopez received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Jenny from the Block first burst onto the music scene in 1997 thanks to her starring role in the biopic “Selena,”and her career trajectory hasn’t slowed down since.
“I really am overwhelmed, this all feels kind of surreal but really so real, it’s awesome,” Lopez says during her speech. “My dream was always to entertain, to perform. Stardom really wasn’t what I sought. I never thought about being famous or having money. I didn’t. I just wanted to be good at what I did. I wanted to be a great actress, I wanted to be a great singer, I wanted to be a great performer. I wanted people to come see me on stage because of what I did, not because of who I was.”
She continues, “Scrutiny, criticism, fame and celebrity may be the trappings of stardom and I would endure them all to share the joy of entertaining you, because that’s all I ever wanted to do. … I love you, thank you so much for going on this journey with me. Today, this landmark moment inspires me to work harder and dream bigger.”
