victor garber gay partner rainer andreesen Actor Victor Garber comes out: Do gay actors and actresses need to 'announce' when they come out?Jodie Foster made headlines at the 2013 Golden Globes when she basically came out as gay during her speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award. In the speech, she spoke about how she came out a long time ago, but she didn’t do it with a “fragrance and a reality show.”

It begs the debate about whether actors and actresses who are gay need to “officially” come out. Now Victor Garber, star of “Deception” on NBC and from such films as “Titanic,” has “come out” to Greg in Hollywood, who writes:

“Wikipedia lists Rainer Andreesen as your partner. I wondered if that’s something that’s public, that you’ve confirmed.”

He seemed surprised by the question but said: “I don’t really talk about it but everybody knows.”

Garber then added: “He’s going to be out here with me for the SAG Awards.”

So in the end, our chat ended up being a bit more interesting than I thought it would be!

But this isn’t the first time Garber has mentioned his partner. Garber spoke with Forever Young News last April, wherein he talks about what he’s most proud of:

“My relationships with my family and my friends. My companion Rainer
Andreesen and I have been together almost 13 years in Greenwich Village.
We both love New York.”

So, is it big news that Victor Garber’s gay? Do homosexual public figures owe something to closeted young men and women to come out publicly or “officially”? Or is it nobody’s business? What do you think, Pop2it readers?
