adam corolla gi Adam Carolla apologizes for homophobic statements, GLAAD doesn't accept 'empty apologies'Add Adam Carolla to the long list of comedians prompted to apologize for offensive statements. Last week, Carolla ranted on his podcast about the transgender community, suggesting that LGBT people should “shut up” and stop “ruining his life.”

“When did we start giving a sh*t about these people?” he said. He claimed that the acronym should be Y.U.C.K. instead of L.G.B.T.

You can listen to the podcast at this link, but it’s not exactly a pleasant experience. Beware of offensive words, offensive sentences, offensive monologues… etc.

GLAAD responded. “Given his history of
anti-gay and racist comments, networks and advertisers should know what their
money is supporting if they choose to hire Adam Carolla,” saysHerndon
Graddick, Senior Director of Programs at GLAAD. “The gross intolerance that he
tries to pass off as comedy should not have a place on our airwaves.”

Included in Carolla’s “history” of homophobia is his claim that gay parents are “not as good as” straight parents — which he made public two years ago when he was still on “Loveline.”

Carolla has apologized for the podcast rant, releasing the statement, “I’m sorry my comments
were hurtful. I’m a comedian, not a politician.”

But GLAAD isn’t accepting the apology. Instead, they’re warning advertisers that supporting Carolla is a strike against the LGBT community.

“Adam Carolla has a history of making anti-LGBT and racist statements,” said Herndon Graddick, Senior Director of Programs at GLAAD. “Networks and advertisers should remember that attacking people who are different from him, and following it with empty apologies, is just a regular part of Carolla’s routine.”
