taissa farmiga american horror story coven 2 'American Horror Story: Coven's' Taissa Farmiga loves 'this crazy show'Taissa Farmiga came back to “American Horror Story” in a big way Season 3’s “Coven,” after taking a year off from the series and not appearing in Season 2, “Asylum.” She tells Reuters that it’s nice to be back “on this crazy show.”

“It feels nice,” says Farmiga. “The character is very different, the tone of this season is very different. For me, I’m a little older, a little more mature. I play a character who is in a different stage in her life than Violet was, it’s just different hurdles.”

One of the major differences between Zoe and Violet is that Zoe is a witch — whose power has a deadly effect on the men she sleeps with.

“Dealing with Zoe’s sexuality that’s attached to her character,
dealing with her special abilities, just trying to figure out how she
would deal with it, trying to get into her mind [is a challenge],” says Farmiga. “It’s a crazy thing to
have to deal with because when you’re not able to get intimate with
someone, it makes you think about your future, it kind of makes you
nervous and upset.”

But she says the show isn’t going to be over the top with its witches.

“One thing [creator Ryan Murphy] said to me when he was talking about the story and
how it was about witches and witchcraft and the history of it in
America, he said he wanted it to be very real. He didn’t want it to be
over the top or crazy. He wanted it to be just natural and real,” says Farmiga.

We would posit it already is over the top, but in a good way. “American Horror Story: Coven” airs Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
