john walsh americas most wanted 320 'America's Most Wanted' moves to Lifetime“America’s Most Wanted” has found a new home — although it will remain a presence at its old home for at least the next year.

The crime-busting series, which has been part of FOX since the very early days of the network, will move to Lifetime later this year. There’s no word yet on a premiere date for the show on cable.

“‘America’s Most Wanted’ is a seminal program that provides a very valuable service to both viewers and law enforcement agencies,” Lifetime president and general manager Nancy Dubuc says in a statement. “For more than two decades [host/executive producer] John Walsh has been leading the fight against crime and it’s an honor to partner with him on bringing back this important show.”

Lifetime’s pickup of “AMW” comes a few months after FOX said it would no longer air the show as a weekly series but instead trim it back to quarterly specials. A FOX rep tells Zap2it the network will air those specials as planned this season.

The show’s first season on Lifetime will be its 25th in total. It debuted on Feb. 7, 1988, less than a year after FOX started airing prime-time programming.

“I’ve always believed there was something very special about ‘America’s Most Wanted’ and that there should be a home for it on television, and I couldn’t be happier to now be able bring it back on Lifetime,” Walsh say. “We’ve often been called the court of last resort … now we are back in the game and ready to saddle up for another season.”
