will ferrell ron burgundy dreamworks 'Anchorman 2': More plot details revealedFor fans who have long been awaiting Ron Burgundy’s (Will Ferrell) return to the big screen, there’s more good news. Plot details are continuing to emerge about “Anchorman 2.”

Adam McKay, the co-writer and director of both the original and the sequel, tells Empire that the film takes place “right when all the news started changing with the 24-hours news cycle in ’78 or ’79…All of a sudden, local news stations diversified and had Latino anchors and African-American anchors, and any time you’re talking about diversity and the Action News team, that’s always fun to deal with.”

He goes on to say that these sorts of transitions continue to be hard for Burgundy and crew. But that’s not all. It looks like they’ll also have some severe difficulty with technological advances in the newsroom.

“We know these guys never deal well with change,” McKay says. “We’re going to be throwing a lot of innovation at them, and they’re not going to handle it well.”

McKay does note that they’ve barely begun on the script, so it’s possible some of this could change. He’s previously hinted that a custody battle between Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) will also be a part of the film.
