andrew stern suicide family statement gi Andrew Stern's family issues statement after suicide

Following the reveal that “The Millionaire Matchmaker” alum Andrew Stern committed suicide on June 22, the family of Stern has issued a statement via their representative.

“It’s extremely upsetting that our family’s private tragedy has become public, and we’d like to ask the media to please respect our privacy as we grieve our only son,” the statement reads. “This unwanted attention has resulted in several false & hurtful speculations that do not truthfully describe the devoted, unselfish, accomplished & proud man Andrew was.

It continues: “Andrew was an adored son, cherished friend, successful businessman, adventurous athlete, passionate animal rights activist & humanitarian. No one is without flaws, but Andrew was a giving & generous spirit who touched so many lives in a positive way. For those of us who loved him, there will never be an answer to ‘why?’ We choose to honor his memory by remembering how he lived, not how he died.”

Stern met his wife Katie Cleary on the set of “The Millionaire Matchmaker.” She also competed in “America’s Next Top Model” and is a model on “Deal or No Deal.” After initial reports implied that the photos of her with the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Adrian Grenier had something to do with Stern’s suicide, Cleary came forward to clarify that she and Stern were no longer together and that he had filed for divorce in April.
