Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid‘s eldest son, Garret Reid, was found dead Sunday morning (Aug. 6) in his dorm room at Lehigh University, site of the Eagles training camp. He was 29 years old.

Autopsy results are pending, but police said there are no indications of foul play or suicide.

Garrett’s battle with drug addiction was well-publicized, and he served nearly two years in prison for a litany of drug charges after crashing into another motorist while driving under the influence of heroin.

That same day, his brother Britt was arrested in a separate drug-related road rage incident in which he threatened another driver with a handgun. He pleaded guilty and like his brother served time in prison.

During his prison stint, Garrett was caught with 89 prescription pills in his rectum and sentenced to a state drug rehab program.

At the time of his death, Garrett was working for the Eagles as an assistant to the strength and conditioning staff

In court, Garrett said, “I don’t want to be that kid who was the son of the head coach of the Eagles, who was spoiled and on drugs and OD’d and just faded into oblivion…I’m at the point in my life where I have already made the decision that I don’t want to die doing drugs.”

His funeral is scheduled for Tuesday.
