anna chapman edward snowden gi Anna Chapman leaves NBC News interview after Edward Snowden proposal question

Former Russian spy Anna Chapman might have a Russian TV series called “Mysteries of the World” she’s willing to promote, but she’s not ready to open up about her own life. She sat down for a rare interview with NBC News, but left after several questions because the subject of Edward Snowden was brought up.

Chapman had tweeted on July 3, “Snowden, will you marry me?” She later added, “@nsa will you look after our children?”

At the time, Snowden was living in the Moscow airport after leaking information from the NSA. He later was granted one year’s asylum in Russia. Both Chapman and Snowden’s stories are now pubic knowledge, but she isn’t willing to keep connecting them.

“I’m not going to discuss this,” she tells NBC News. It didn’t take long after that for her to pull the plug on the whole conversation, saying, “OK, the interview is finished. I’m sorry.”

“I don’t want to discuss America. I’m sorry,” Chapman says. “I think [the interview is] done because it’s not going the right way.”

Chapman did open up a bit about her personal life, saying she’s not married and explaining why she’s such a “very private, discreet person.” “I still don’t do many interviews because I just don’t like to share,” she explains. “I don’t believe that people would be interested in knowing about somebody’s life.”
