If you’d like to watch one of the best films of 2013, all you need is an internet connection and eight minutes to spare. Arcade Fire has released a second music video for their single “Afterlife,” and it’s wonderful.
The video, written and directed by Emily Kai Bock, a Canadian filmmaker, tells the story of three family members dealing with the death of their matriarch. How they are coping with the loss is told through their individual dream.
The first video the band made for the song was recorded live at the YouTube Music Awards, featuring a dancing Greta Gerwig. Arcade Fire deserves credit for creating two of the year’s best music videos for the exact same song.

Chris E. Hayner is equal parts nerd, crazy person and coffee. He watches too much TV, knows more about pro wrestling than you do and remembers every single show from the TGIF lineup. You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
