It has been confirmed that legendary singer Aretha Franklin has cancer. A unidentified family member shared the sad news with Fox News 2 in Detroit. Another relative is saying that her family is very concerned, but also says she is doing “okay.”

This announcement follows last week’s news that Franklin underwent surgery, but no details regarding the procedure were released. Before undergoing surgery, “The Queen of Soul” canceled all of her concert dates through May 2011 for “medical reasons.” Franklin issued this statement following her Dec. 2 surgery:
