midnight sytcyd new girl '@midnight' renewed for Season 2; 'So You Think You Can Dance' honors Michael JacksonTV news and notes:

– Comedy Central has picked up “@midnight” for a second season. The comedic game show hosted by Chris Hardwick has found a solid audience airing after “The Colbert Report,” averaging 769,000 viewers with a heavy concentration of young men. It also dominates social media with its Internet-based games. Season 2 will run throughout 2015.

– Wednesday’s (Aug. 13) “So You Think You Can Dance” will feature the finalists dancing to the music of Michael Jackson, along with a preview of the video for the King of Pop’s posthumous single “A Place with No Name.” The eight finalists will also perform a group number set to the song.

“New Girl” has found a home in cable syndication — or two homes, actually. TBS and MTV will each air repeats of the show starting in fall 2015, when the FOX comedy will have four seasons and 90-plus episodes under its belt. “New Girl” already has a streaming deal in place with Netflix. [Deadline]

– Speaking of “New Girl,” the show has cast “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star Kaitlyn Olson as Jess’ (Zooey Deschanel) high-school nemesis — who now happens to be dating her dad (Rob Reiner). Olson will appear in several episodes of Season 4.

– Ed Harris has been added to the extensive list of stars in HBO’s “Westworld” pilot. He joins James Marsden, Evan Rachel Wood, Anthony Hopkins and more than a dozen others that have been announced in the past couple of weeks. Harris will play The Man in Black — described as the personification of pure villainy from the Michael Crichton 1973 film on which the show is based.

– Good news, bad news for E! personality Ross Mathews. The cable channel has canceled his late-night show “Hello Ross” but given him a spot on a panel show called “Live From E!,” which is expanding its on-air footprint. The show, which started online and then ran weekly on-air, will run Monday through Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT starting Sept. 8 [The Wrap]
