bart colantuono ax men dies helicopter crash 'Ax Men' star Bart Colantuono dies in helicopter crash

Bart Colantuono, one of the stats of History Channel’s “Ax Men” tragically died in a helicopter crash Monday (September 16), near Detroit Lake in Oregon. He was 54 years old. Colantuono was hauling logs at the time, when witnesses say they heard a snapping sound, followed by the logs hitting the ground, according to local affiliate KPTV.
The helicopter reportedly separated from its rotor, before turning upside down and crashing to the ground. Colantuono was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say Colantuono likely knew there was a problem before the crash, as he released the logs ahead of time.
A representative for the History Channel says in a statement, “All of us at History and Original Productions, along with our ‘Ax Men’ team, would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Bart. He was an important part of ‘Ax Men’ when he appeared in season three and his talents will be greatly missed.” The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
