In preparation for the upcoming season of “The Bachelor” starring Ben Flajnik, we here at Zap2it decided it would be fun to order some of his winery for the big premiere. As you know, Flajnik owns Evolve winery in Sonoma, Calif.
The wines arrived last week – we ordered the 2010 Sauvignon Blanc and the 2010 Pinot Noir. We really wanted to get the ’10 Blanc, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2009 Sauvignon Blanc, but the latter two wines were sold out. We also meant to save at least one for the premiere of “The Bachelor,” but – haha, like a bottle of wine lasts more than a day or two in our house.
So out of the two we purchased, we definitely give the ’10 Blanc a thumbs up. It was crisp, clean and we could definitely taste the honeysuckle and lime notes from the bottle.
As for the Pinot Noir, it was pretty good. We will be honest, we prefer big, heavy, spicy reds to lighter reds like Pinots, so it wasn’t going to be our cup of tea off the bat anyway. But it was still a very tasty wine.
The only real complaint was the shipping charge. The wines are very reasonably priced, but the shipping was stiff enough so as to dissuade us from ordering any more. But if you’re in California, definitely check these out.
“The Bachelor” premieres Monday, Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
