andi dorfman eric hill the bachelorette 'Bachelorette' Andi Dorfman: Eric Hill 'inspired not only me, but every guy in the house'“Bachelorette” Andi Dorfman is finished filming her season and starting to talk to the press in preparation for the premiere on Monday, May 19. This week, Dorfman opens up to People about Eric Hill, the contestant on her season who was killed in a paragliding accident after he left the show.

“When I heard the news, I was devastated. Shock, devastation, grief. It’s something you never could have predicted [or] expected,” says Dorfman, telling the magazine that she reached out privately to Hill’s family.

“[He] was part of our family and I had just seen him,” she continues. “He was a member of our cast and we had an inherent bond. The [other contestants] shared that bond too. It was shocking and devastating to all of us and it’s still a tough thing that we’re going through.”

She also says that she has nothing but fond memories of him and that his sense of adventure was inspiring to her.

“I will always remember Eric’s love for life,” says Dorfman. “People say, ‘Oh, he lived life to the fullest.’ But Eric really was the epitome of someone who lived life to the fullest. This man had amazing stories and great experiences. His sense of adventure inspired not only me, but every guy in the house, every producer, every crew member. Everybody says they want to do stuff in their life, but he was really doing it.”

“The Bachelorette” premieres Monday, May 19 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT before moving to its regular time period of 8 p.m. ET/PT on Monday, May 26, on ABC.
