Bam Margera, who co-starred with Ryan Dunn in three “Jackass” movies and Margera’s own MTV show, “Viva La Bam,” made a Tuesday (June 21) pilgrimage to the site of Dunn’s death. Dunn died early Monday morning after he lost control of his Porsche and slammed into a tree. The car exploded in a ball of flame, killing Dunn and his passenger, Zach Hartwell.
“I’ve never lost anybody that I care about, he’s my best friend,” Margera tells Philadelphia’s FOX29 in his first interview since the accident.
Margera was in Arizona when he heard the news.
It is not right,” he says of finding out his friend was dead. “It was the worst phone call I got in my life.”
Police reconstructing the accident say Dunn may have been driving as fast as 130 mph when his car left the road. And, at this point, it’s impossible to tell whether Dunn and Hartwell died on impact or in the resulting fire.
On Wednesday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Dunn had been cited 23 times for driving infractions in the past 13 years — including 10 speeding and careless driving tickets and three for driving
with a suspended license. There was also a drunken driving arrest in
Although Dunn was photographed in a Philadelphia area bar just hours before the crash, toxicology reports — which could indicate whether or not alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident — won’t be returned for up to six weeks.
UPDATE: Ryan Dunn allegedly had a blood alcohol content level nearly twice the legal limit when he crashed his Porsche on Monday. Police sources tell TMZ that Dunn’s B.A.C. was .196. TMZ doesn’t add where or how this information was gathered, just attributing the tidbit to “cops.”
