batman day dc comic con tv moments 'Batman Day' kicks off Comic Con 2014: 6 best Batman TV moments

The first day of San Diego Comic-Con 2014 begins with a very celebration of the dark knight himself, Batman. DC Entertainment dubbed Wednesday, July 23 “Batman Day” in honor of the 75th anniversary of the caped crusader.

From panels to parties to new TV shows, Batman is taking over Comic-Con this year. In honor of his special day, here’s a look back at some of Zap2it‘s favorite Batman moments in TV history.

Any true fan of the cape and cowl knows that the original 1966 TV “Batman” was played by Adam West. Though there have been many iterations of Batman since, this one still holds a special place in the hearts of fans.
“Batman: The Animated Series”
Every nerdy child of the ’80s and ’90s grew up watching “Batman: The Animated Series,” and it introduced the cape crusader to a new generation. Take a trip down memory lane with its opening sequence above.
“Batman Beyond”
WB TV’s “Batman Beyond” was another great cartoon, running for three seasons from 1999 to 2001. It rebooted the Batman story by having Terry McGinnis pick up the cape and cowl under the tutelage of an elderly Bruce Wayne, and was revisited in the above short, which was released in April 2014.
“Robot Chicken”
No one knows how to tear Batman down to size quite like Seth Green. Though there have been many Batman-inspired sketches on “Robot Chicken,” the above video is one of the best.

There was a special sort of fiction made up for Miles Scott, aka Batkid, when he saved the city of San Francisco from certain doom on Nov. 15, 2013 as part of his Make-A-Wish. Despite the caped crusader’s many moments in pop culture over the past few decades, this event — which was covered extensively by TV news networks — is our favorite in recent memory.
Though not released yet, Zap2it has seen the pilot of “Gotham” and can attest that it earns its place among the best of Batman’s TV shows. The FOX series might tell the story of Gordon before his commissioner days, but it definitely does the caped crusader’s tale justice.
