bear-grylls-man-vs-wild.jpgFormer “Man vs. Wild” host Bear Grylls is back in business with Discovery as the host of Discovery Network International’s “Bear Grylls: Ultimate Survivors.”

The show is set to air on 26 international Discovery channels. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the six one-hour episodes will chronicle “the stories of ordinary people stranded in devastatingly dire situations using archive footage and interviews with the survivors.”

Grylls will also put himself in similar situations — including the aftermath of an Amazon plane crash, remote areas of the European Alps and the North African desert — to educate viewers on survival tactics.

Grylls and Discovery appeared to acrimoniously part ways last March when the U.S. channels “terminated” their working relationship after Grylls allegedly did not participate in projects he was contracted to appear in.

“I am super-excited to be working with Discovery again — the channel where the ‘Man vs. Wild’ journey began,” Grylls says in a statement. “‘Bear Grylls: Ultimate Survivors,’ and any future endeavors, will be intense — but that’s where the fun is!”

“We are thrilled to welcome Bear back to the Discovery fold,” Discovery Networks International executive vp Luis Silberwasser adds. “He is a true game-changer in the survival genre, integral in shaping it into the programming powerhouse that it is today.”

It’s unclear if and when “Ultimate Survivors” will air in the U.S., but Grylls also has an upcoming series for NBC titled “Get Out Alive” expected to debut in the summer.
