Live, from your living room: It’s “Saturday Night Live” ice cream! Ben & Jerry’s announced that it’s releasing several new “SNL”-themed flavors in honor of the late-night sketch show’s 40th anniversary in the 2014-15 season.
The first two flavors, Lazy Sunday and Gilly’s Catastrophic Crunch, will only be available in scoop shops, but you can fill pints there to take home and eat on the comfort of your own couch, preferably with elastic-waist (or no) pants.
Two more flavors will be released toward the end of the year in honor of the show’s anniversary, and hopefully those new flavors will honor more classic sketches than the polarizing Gilly.
Gilly’s Catastrophic Crunch contains a combination of chocolate and sweet cream ice creams with caramel clusters, fudge-covered almonds and marshmallow swirl. Lazy Sunday has vanilla cake batter ice cream with chocolate and yellow cupcake pieces and a chocolate frosting swirl, and we can only assume that it’s crazy delicious.
Ben & Jerry’s has honored “SNL” with themed ice creams in the past: a 2011 “Schweddy Balls” flavor honored of the iconic Christmas sketch with Alec Baldwin, Will Ferrell’s Ron Burgundy got his own flavor, and Tina Fey got a flavor in honor of the “30 Rock” finale. The company also released Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon flavors.
