“Sherlock” star Benedict Cumberbatch is rather incredible when it comes to accents and embodying other people. That’s on full display in a video from the Hay Festival in which the actor reads a letter written by Iggy Pop in 1995.

Filmed on Saturday, May 31, the letter contains words of encouragement to a young fan who seems to have been in a bad place at the time. While not actually going as far as the more extreme Iggy Pop, Cumberbatch still manages to evoke the man during the short reading.

Another video from the same festival shows Cumberbatch and his “Sherlock” co-star, Louise Brealey, reading correspondence between a POW and the woman he fell in love with during World War II. Watch it below:
