If you loved the December teaser trailer for “Star Trek Into Darkness,” then you’re going to love this. Total Film has debuted a new motion poster for the upcoming J.J. Abrams movie, and it’s all Benedict Cumberbatch all the time.
“You think your world is safe. It is an illusion,” he says in the poster’s voiceover. “A comforting lie told to protect you. Enjoy these final moments of peace. For I have returned to have my vengeance. So, shall we begin?”
That same line was used in the teaser trailer, but we still aren’t quite sure who “I” is. The “Star Trek Into Darkness” official plot synopsis describes Cumberbatch as a “terror from within [the Starfleet] organization,” while it was later revealed that his villain character is named :John Harrison.” That hasn’t stopped people from speculating he’s actually Khan, though cast and crew of the movie repeatedly shoot down that rumor.
“Star Trek Into Darkness” stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Alice Eve and Cumberbatch. Directed by Abrams, it’s due in theaters on May 17.
