ban bossy psa Beyoncé, Jennifer Garner, Jane Lynch and more want to 'Ban Bossy': Watch the PSA When talking about strong, independent women, it’s time to take the word “bossy” out of the vernacular. And that’s exactly what a group of women from Hollywood, the government and more are fighting to achieve with the new campaign, “Ban Bossy.”

Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In Foundation in partnership with Lifetime has recruited Beyoncé, Jennifer Garner, Jane Lynch, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Diane von Furstenberg and many more to encourage girls to seek leadership roles and discourage insulting ambitious women as “bossy.”

“When a little boy asserts himself, he’s called a ‘leader.’ Yet when a little girl does the same, she risks being branded ‘bossy.’ Words like bossy send a message: Don’t raise your hand or speak up. By middle school, girls are less interested in leading than boys — a trend that continues into adulthood,” writes.

In a new video PSA for “Ban Bossy,” Queen Bey says it best: “I’m not bossy. I’m the boss.”
