eva longoria beyonce gi Beyonce's National Anthem: Inauguration co chair Eva Longoria 'wasn't really paying attention'Eva Longoria isn’t concerned whether Beyonce performed “The Star Spangled Banner” live or lip-synched it at Monday’s (Jan. 21) Presidential Inauguration.

“I was freezing my buns off, so I wasn’t really paying attention too much,” the event’s co-chairperson — and “Desperate Housewives” alum — tells Zap2it. “It was about self-preservation. I love Beyonce, and she obviously can sing, so whether she sang live or to [a recording of] her own voice is kind of a moot point to me.”

Longoria says that overall, the occasion that marked the official start of President Barack Obama‘s second term lived up to her hopes … “and beyond. It was my first time at an inauguration, and it’s really an honor to be part of the whole process, much less at the level that I was involved.

“When the president asks you to do something, you have to say yes!,” Longoria adds with a laugh. “I was a co-chair of the actual campaign, so this was a big ‘thank you’ for the work I had done, and just a big honor to stay involved at that level. Having a hand in the planning was just overwhelming and fun, and for me, a lot of the magic was still there. It was beautiful to watch.”

The inauguration was the start of what has been another typically hectic week for Longoria, also an executive producer of NBC’s dating series “Ready for Love,” premiering Sunday, March 31. “I got home [from Washington, D.C.] Tuesday and collapsed,” she says. “I got back around 2 in the afternoon and went to bed, and didn’t wake up until the next day.

“I’ve been prepping the series since, so I haven’t really stopped going, but I tried to take in all of the inauguration to be sure I remembered every moment of the experience. I was soaking it all in.”
