bill murray hbo olive kitteridge Bill Murray to star in HBO's 'Olive Kitteridge' mini series

Bill Murray is the latest film actor to take his talents to the small screen. Deadline is reporting that Murray has joined the cast of HBO’s new mini-series “Olive Kitteridge,” which is an adaptation of Elizabeth Strout’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name.

With the exception of his time on “Saturday Night Live,” this newly announced starring role is Murray’s first real television project he’s ever been on. Of course, this new series is more of an extended film than a traditional TV show anyway. He’ll be playing a local widower named Jack Hennison who main character Olive Kitteridge, who is played by Frances McDormand.

Also in the mini-series are Richard Jenkins, Rosemarie DeWitt, John Gallagher Jr., Jesse Plemons, Zoe Kazan and Cory Michael Smith. The project will be directed by “The Kids Are All Right’s” Lisa Cholodenko, and was adapted by Jane Anderson.

Are you excited to see Murray star in an HBO mini-series?
