Following his admission to rehab in September, Billie Joe Armstrong has been struggling to get clean so he can get back on the road for Green Day’s upcoming fall tour. But apparently his meltdown has been as hard on his band as it has been on him.

“Billie doesn’t take things lightly and he wouldn’t take rehab lightly, either,” Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt tells MTV News. “He’s in the middle of some really big things, but we’re going to pull through. It’s killing everyone. Green Day has never been a band that sits still, but sometimes you have to step back and let life go on rather than try to control everything.”

The band cancelled their headlining performance at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans on Oct. 27, though they still plan to release their next album, “Dos!,” on Nov. 13. However, their upcoming tour, which is supposed to start Nov. 26, could be put on hold for a while as Armstrong might not be released from rehab until the new year.

“He’s under medical supervision for a while to get him clean. His doctors are still evaluating,” Warner Bros. Records Chairman Rob Cavallo tells Rolling Stone. “All I can say is I don’t know if we’ll see him before or after Christmas. It’s basically undetermined when he’ll be back.”
