boston strong movie Boston Marathon bombing story to become movie 'Boston Strong'

It only took three months, but people in Hollywood have already snapped up the rights to make a film about the Boston Marathon bombings. At least the project is coming from a duo who have a soft spot for the Boston community: “The Fighter” screenwriters Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy.

The two writers picked up the rights to a forthcoming book about the Patriot’s Day attack by Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge called “Boston Strong.” That project isn’t slated to be published until 2014, but Johnson and Tamasy seem to be getting a head start on the flick.

Deadline broke the news about the optioning. The book “Boston Strong” will look at the bombing attacks at the Boston Marathon and the subsequent hunt for the suspects, but it’s unclear what direction the film will take or what characters’ perspectives it will be told from.

Johnson and Tamasy’s earned their first Oscar nomination for their “The Fighter” screenplay, which was also Johnson’s first script. Tamasy previously wrote “Air Bud.”
