Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had long claimed that they would not get married until everyone in the United States had that right, so it came as a welcome surprise earlier this year when the longtime couple announced their engagement. Though they said it was more for their children than because they needed to confirm their love in a marriage ceremony, Pitt and Jolie have hesitantly talked about wedding plans in the time since.
While promoting his new movie “Killing Them Softly,” Pitt has admitted that a wedding date hasn’t been set yet. But he has said in a couple of interviews that this is the right time for him and Jolie to tie the knot both because they personally are ready and because things are looking good for the rights of LGBT Americans.
“I don’t know, we’re making great strides [in gay rights],” Pitt tells Extra. “I will admit we have had some pressure from our kids. We didn’t realize how much it means to them, and in getting engaged, we didn’t realize how much it means to ourselves.”
Pitt echoed similar sentiments to People when the magazine caught up with him on the “Killing Them Softly” premiere red carpet, saying, “I am getting more pressure from my kids, and it is something I want to do within their lifetime, but I also feel like the time has come.”
So just where will this wedding take place? Since both Pitt and Jolie travel frequently for work, Pitt admits to Extra that the location will be “a matter of convenience location-wise.” How romantic!
Still, Pitt wasn’t lying about always having to jet around. He was in London for Thanksgiving while Jolie and some of their children were working on The Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation in Cambodia, and didn’t even realize that it was a holiday. “It completely escaped me until someone brought me some English pumpkin pie,” he tells People.
