breaking dawn thanksgiving box office 'Breaking Dawn' poised to lead a big Thanksgiving weekend at the box office“Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2” is on its way to a second big weekend, and it could lead the way to one of the best Thanksgiving weekends ever at the box office.

The combination of strong holdovers in “Breaking Dawn” and “Skyfall” and several good-sized openings, including “Life of Pi” and “Rise of the Guardians,” has forecasters predicting a five-day box office of close to $275 million. That would break the previous Thanksgiving holiday record of $258.6 million, set three years ago.

The final “Twilight” movie made an estimated $8.05 million Thursday (Nov. 22), which followed a $12.8 million take on Thanksgiving eve. “Skyfall” stayed in place at No. 2 Thursday with $7.7 million.

Potential Oscar contenders “Lincoln” ($4.9 million) and “Life of Pi” ($4.5 million) also had solid performances Thursday, with “Life of Pi” growing some from its $3.7 million opening Wednesday. “Rise of the Guardians” ($3.7 million) and even the critically hammered “Red Dawn” remake ($3.2 million) had pretty good Thanksgiving hauls too.

In limited release (367 theaters), Oscar hopeful “Silver Linings Playbook” made just over $600,000 Thursday. Its two-day total is about $1.3 million.
