The very first promo for ABC Family’s new series “Bunheads” doesn’t actually reveal much (or anything) about the show, other than the fact that Broadway vet Sutton Foster is in it, but we’re still excited anyway.
The drama follows Foster’s Michelle, a Las Vegas showgirl who becomes a teacher at her mother-in-law’s dance school when she moves to a small town with her new husband. “Gilmore Girls” vet Kelly Bishop plays the mother-in-law in question. “Friday Night Lights” actress Stacey Oristano also stars.
The 15-second spot features Foster giving her dance students some quick advice … and not much else.
“I spent 20 years of my life with my hair in a bun. I was supposed to be a dancer,” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino (“Gilmore Girls”) says of the inspiration for the series. “My mother was a dancer. Her greatest heartbreak was when I got on ‘Roseanne.’ So, while writing this will never equal playing Rumpelteazer in a bus and truck tour of ‘Cats,’ it does let me to tip my hat to a really special time in my life.”
