carrie 'Carrie' remake: Stephen King's horror classic gets an updateIt’s prom season, so this makes a twisted kind of sense. Stephen King’s “Carrie” — the novel which was famously adapted into a 1976 horror starring Sissy Spacek (the one where she’s covered with blood, not singing about coal miners) — is headed back to the big screen.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, MGM and Screen Gems are partnering for a new take on the tale about a telekinetic and — let’s face it — kind of bratty teenager who totally goes sci-fi-style nuts on her classmates at prom. The original, starring Spacek in the title role, was directed by Brian DePalma and co-starred Piper Laurie and a young John Travolta.

The script is reportedly being penned by “Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark” (rut roh) playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

Who would you cast as an updated Carrie White?
