charlie sheen leaves hospital gi Charlie Sheen speaks, compares himself to Errol FlynnSince entering rehab last week, all we’ve heard from Charlie Sheen is “I’m fine” and “Bunch of turds” via a text message to the head of a gossip site. Now, he’s broken his silence via a publicist-approved statement.

“I have a lot of work to do to be able to return the support I have
received from so many people,” Sheen says. ?”I want to
say ‘thank-you’ to my fellow cast members, the crew of ‘Two and a Half Men,’ and everyone at CBS and Warner Bros., especially Les Moonves and Bruce
Rosenblum for their concern and support.?And to my fans, your good
wishes have touched me very much. ?Like Errol Flynn, who had to put down
his sword on occasion, I just want to say, ‘thank-you.'”

Errol Flynn, of course, was an actor who rose to stardom in the 1930s and 1940s in swashbuckling roles. By the 1950s, however, heavy alcohol and drug abuse had taken its toll on the well-known womanizer — the phrase “in like Flynn” was coined in response to his reputation.

Flynn died at age 50 of a heart attack, after a week-long binge party in Vancouver. Here’s hoping Sheen completes his rehab and doesn’t meet a similar fate.
