Ever since word of former Warrant singer Jani Lane‘s death hit the news Thursday (Aug. 11) night, we’ve been unable to get “Cherry Pie” out of our heads. Well, except for a couple times when we found that we were singing along to Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me” instead.

The title track of Warrant’s 1990 album, “Cherry Pie” was originally a throwaway written on a pizza box in under a half hour at the request of the record label.

In an interview with VH1, Lane once said, “I could shoot myself in the f***ing head for writing that song,” although he later retracted that statement, blaming it on a bad day.

Fact: Bobbie Brown, the model who appears in the video, later became Lane’s first wife. The couple were married for two years and had a daughter, Taylar.
