christopher schwarzenegger gi Christopher Schwarzenegger expected to fully recoverThe news broke Friday (July 22) that Christopher Schwarzenegger, the 13-year-old son of former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and estranged wife Maria Shriver, was severely injured last weekend in a surfing accident. Christopher suffered a collapsed lung and several broken ribs and other bones.

But in a statement released to People, Christopher’s parents have assured everyone that their son will make a full recovery. The statement reads:

“While it has been a very scary week, Christopher is surrounded by his
family and friends. He is a brave boy and is expected to make a full
recovery. On behalf of our entire family, we want to sincerely thank the
paramedics and lifeguards who responded so swiftly as well as the
doctors, nurses, emergency room and hospital staff who have cared for
our son,” the statement continues.
They have been extraordinary to him and to us. We thank
everyone for their thoughts and prayers and ask for respect and privacy
for Christopher and our family.”

We’re glad he’s going to be OK.
