Country favorites Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley hosted the Country Music Association Awards for their third year in a row on Nov. 10, and as always, they had a grand old time. After their rocking opening number, the duo decided to sing a little song about the events of 2010.
“Nashville had a flood and we barely made the news,” they sang. “When up through the gulf came a-bubbling crude… oil, that is.”
They also boasted about how non-Hollywood Nashville is… until they laid eyes on leading lady Gwyneth Paltrow in the audience. “Gwyneth, I’ve always wanted to ask you something,” Paisley said solemnly. “Can you get me two Coldplay tickets?”
Underwood and Paisley went on to touch on one of the recurring themes of 2010: infidelity. We’re pretty sure Tiger Woods and Brett Favre should get used to it. They’re going to be punchlines for a while yet. Brad Paisley then “confused” Lady Antebellum with Lady Gaga, which was a pretty lame joke but did give us the chance to hear him do a few quick countrified acoustic versions of “Paparazzi” and “Alejandro.” We loved them and think he should start performing those covers at his live shows ASAP. The CMAs were on ABC, which meant that “Modern Family” got bumped from its usual spot. “We don’t have an adorable middle aged male couple,” Paisley apologized. “At least not since Brooks and Dunn broke up.” Follow Zap2it and @cadlymack on Twitter and Zap2it on Facebook for the latest TV, movie and celebrity news.
