Four years after his online campaign to be cast as Spider-Man in “The Amazing Spider-Man,” former “Community” star Donald Glover had finally gotten his wish … sort of. The actor is voicing the half-black, half-Hispanic version of Spider-Man, Miles Morales, on an episode of “Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors.”
USA Today reports the new season of the show will find Peter Parker traveling through parallel universes, including one where Morales is the superhero. The meeting is a shock for both Spider-Men, though especially Morales because Parker is dead in his world.
Morales was introduced in the “Ultimate Spider-Man” comic book in 2011, after Glover’s Twitter campaign ans a scene of him wearing Spidey pajamas on an episode of “Community.” His episode of “Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors” will air in 2015, but the new season of the series premieres Sunday, Aug. 31, at 9 a.m. ET/PT on Disney XD.
