We’re pretty sure Stage 31 on the Paramount Lot where NBC’s “Community” shoots is vibrating with excitement right now.
Not only has their show been moved over to the renewed column on NBC’s scheduling board, but “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation” move over, as well, to join its Thursday comedy block buddies.
“I am so pleased to renew these three outstanding comedies which are all at the top of their game creatively,” says NBC Entertainment Chairman, Bob Greenblatt. “Along with ’30 Rock,’ they represent the best of what the NBC comedy brand stands for in terms of originality, wit, and sophistication.”
“Community,” while garnering much critical acclaim, has had as star Yvette Nicole Brown called at PaleyFest recently, “a small, but mighty audience.” With an average 4.7 million viewers overall, the show consistently does well in a time period that includes competition from Fox’ “American Idol,” CBS’s “Big Bang Theory” and ABC’s “Wipeout.”
“The Office” will go on without Steve Carell’s Michael Scott at The Helm. The Emmy-winning series averages 7.7 million viewers overall and is the No. 1 scripted series in its time slot for adults 18-49 and 18-34.
This season so far, “Parks and Recreation” has earned 5.5 million viewers overall. Currently, the series is up versus last season by 17 percent in adults 18-49 and up 9 percent in total viewers (5.5 million vs. 5.1 million). It’s currently NBC’s No. 2 scripted series and ranks in the top 20 overall with a 3.2 rating.
