On Sunday, Michele’s rep told Us Weekly that there would be no official statement from the actress at this time: “We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during this devastating time. Thank you.”
Co-stars since the premiere of “Glee” in 2009 and a couple since at least Feb. 2012, Michele and Monteith had already weathered several relationship storms prior to Monteith’s unexpected death. When the actor entered treatment for substance abuse in March 2013, Lea Michele publicly supported her boyfriend. “I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision,” Michele said in a statement.
At the time of Monteith’s death, Michele was on a girls’ weekend trip to Cabo, Mexico while her boyfriend reportedly visited his mother in the Vancouver area. Sources close to the actress have said she was happy and relaxed during the trip, unaware of any issues with her boyfriend.
