craig zadan neil meron oscars 2014 gi Craig Zadan and Neil Meron returning to produce 2014 Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced they’re bringing back the producers of the 2013 Oscar Awards for next year’s show. Craig Zadan and Neil Meron produced a telecast that drew significantly higher ratings than other recent Oscar shows, anchored by host Seth MacFarlane.
The choice was made by outgoing Academy president Hawk Koch, who tells the LA Times, “We believe that continuity is the most important thing. One of the problems we have every year is that you always have a new producer and a new host — there’s so much learning.” MacFarlane has already said he doesn’t want to host the telecast again, but Koch believes the producers returning is a step in the right direction, saying, “It’s so much better when you have continuity.”
Koch didn’t make the decision alone, as he also consulted the Academy’s Board of Governors. “It’s the president’s prerogative to choose the new producers, but I didn’t want to do anything without the review committee and the governors agreeing,” he says. Luckily, the board loved the idea. The 2013 Academy Awards telecast will air March 2, 2014.
