“Criminal Minds” could potentially be without a key cast member when Season 7 starts filming later this summer.
Thomas Gibson, who has starred on the show for its entire run, is currently without a contract. Negotiations have “stalled,” Deadline reports, which could put a crimp in planning for the coming season.
The show’s writers recently started meeting to break stories for the coming season, but that could prove difficult if they don’t know for sure whether to include Gibson’s Agent Hotchner in the mix. “Criminal Minds” is scheduled to begin filming in early July.
On the plus side, Gibson is still doing his part to promote the show, contract or no. Deadline notes he and co-star Matthew Gray Gubler will appear on behalf of the show at the Monte Carlo Television Festival this week, and he’s also set to do other press events in Europe. There’s also still some time to make a deal and not mess with the production schedule.
What do you think? Would “Criminal Minds” without Hotchner still be worth watching for you?
