J.J. Abrams can breathe easy: Daft Punk has given him the seal of approval as the successor to the “Star Wars” franchise.
The French duo, who are giant fans of the legendary sci-fi series, recently spoke with KROQ, a L.A. based radio station. Why “Star Wars” came up, we’ll never know, but it did nonetheless.
Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, the fellas under the helmets, voiced their support for Abrams’ involvement in the franchise. “We feel really good [about it],” Bangalter said. “We’ve always been big fans of his work. I happened to have met J.J. a few years back, and he’s a really cool guy. He seems to be the perfect candidate to keep the Force alive.”
There you have it. Abrams, proceed with ease. Daft Punk has faith.
