Check out these videos from Syfy for new science fiction drama “Defiance,” which premiered Monday (April 15), chronicling the lives of humans and aliens co-habitating on post-apocalyptic Earth.

“I’ve never worked on anything with the same level of detail,” says star Grant Bowler. “The alien languages, which I certainly had no experience with an entirely created language. And you, of course, to be generous to me, have me speaking all the alien languages.”

Below, here’s a sneak peek scene at next week’s episode, titled “Down in the Ground Where the Dead Men Go.” In the clip, Rafe and Nolan head into the mines with an expedition, looking for someone who has stolen some gulanite, which is a valuable mineral from the gas planet Gula. A very creepy-looking scene greets them, with the remnants of St. Louis buried far under ground.

“Defiance” airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Syfy.
