taylor-swift-steal-lyric-matt-nathanson-pics-red-gi.jpgTaylor Swift is still riding high from the gangbusters sales of her new “Red” album, but has the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer been caught stealing a lyric red-handed?

As pointed out by the Oh No They Didn’t blog, a line from Swift’s “All Too Well” sounds a lot like one from singer Matt Nathanson’s 2003 song “I Saw.”

Here’s Swift’s lyric: “And I forget about you long enough to forget why I needed to.”

And Nathanson’s: “And I’ll forget about you long enough to forget why I need to.”

But is it thievery or just homage — as Swift is a fan of Nathanson, even writing some of his lyrics on her arm before shows (as kids these days are wont to do …).

Nathanson certainly seemed to take notice, tweeting on Oct. 24, “she’s definitely a fan… and now she’s a thief.”

The post has since been deleted, but Nathanson tweets on Friday (Nov. 2), “so far, my favorite thing about today is the wave of @taylorswift13 fans calling me a prick on twitter for writing “i saw” in 2003.”

Swift has yet to comment on the alleged plagiarism herself.
