carrie fisher star wars 7 leia Disney says new 'Star Wars' movies releasing every Summer starting in 2015

When Disney said they were going to make more “Star Wars” movies, they weren’t kidding. The company announced Wednesday (April 17), that beginning in 2015, there will be a new “Star Wars” film every Summer. “Episode VII,” directed by J.J. Abrams, will start the trend.
During their presentation at CinemaCon (as reported by ComingSoon), an annual convention for theater owners, the company says the plan is to alternate between new episodes in the main story, and stand alone movies. There have been rumors of spinoffs featuring Han Solo and Boba Fett in the works, along with a possible Yoda-centric film.
Disney hasn’t confirmed any casting for 2015’s “Episode VII,” but the three principal actors from the original trilogy have all alluded to their possible returns. Releasing their first “Star Wars” movie in the Summer of 2015 means Disney, who will also have the sequel to mega-hit “The Avengers” in theaters, could dominate the box office.
