There’s now less than two weeks before the 50th anniversary of “Doctor Who” brings about “The Day of the Doctor.” Present and cast members are excited about the momentous occasion, whether they are appearing in the special or not.
Alex Kingston, who plays the role of River Song, sent a special message to Whovians while attending the BAFTA LA Britannia Awards Saturday (November 9). In a photo for BBC America, she holds up a napkin that reads “Happy 50th Anniversary,” while wearing a big smile.
River, the daughter of Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill), was last seen in “The Name of the Doctor.”
“The Day of the Doctor” airs November 23 on BBC America.

Chris E. Hayner is equal parts nerd, crazy person and coffee. He watches too much TV, knows more about pro wrestling than you do and remembers every single show from the TGIF lineup. You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
