No longer shackled to NBC’s “Community,” Donald Glover has found his follow-up project.
The actor-comedian is set to write, executive produce and star in a half-hour comedy being developed at FX, Deadline reports. The series, tentatively titled “Atlanta,” is set against the backdrop of Atlanta’s music scene. Glover grew up in the Georgia city and has a blossoming rap career under the stage name Childish Gambino.
According to Deadline, several networks showed interest in “Atlanta,” but it was FX’s comedy brand and the network’s willingness to accommodate Glover’s music touring schedule that attracted the actor.
In early July, it was reported that Glover had downgraded his regular status on “Community,” making a deal to appear in only five of the 13 episodes ordered for the cult comedy’s upcoming fifth season.
Are you looking forward to Glover going solo or do you wish he’d have stuck around “Community” a little longer?
