Donald Trump announced on Twitter Tuesday (Oct. 30) that due to Hurricane Sandy, he would generously extend his deadline for President Obama to produce his college and passport records in exchange for $5 million in charitable donations from Trump to the charities of the president’s choice.

Naturally, “Late Night” host Jimmy Fallon had to inquire about the Donald’s latest stunt, saying Trump has been pretty controversial lately.

“I don’t know if I’ve been controversial,” says Trump. “Certainly I offered a lot of money for something that’s easy to produce … It’s a great thing for charity, it’s easy money for charity. And you really want to see what’s behind everything, you want to see what’s right.”

Then Fallon posits, “Let’s say he doesn’t give you his application for Applebee’s or whatever you want … what do you do with the $5 million?”

“I guess I probably do something else with it and maybe it’s charity. I give a lot of money to charity as it is, many millions of dollars,” says Trump.

What do you think, guys? Would it go a long way to mitigate this whole incident if Trump gives the money to charity if President Obama doesn’t bite?
