Some excellent news is coming our way from across the pond, “Downton Abbey” fans. TV Line is reporting that multiple main actors on the popular British import drama have signed on through Season 5. How thrilling!
Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery, Joanne Froggatt and Brendan Coyle have all signed on for two more seasons past the one they are currently filming, which would bring “Downton” to a five-season run (though nobody says that would be the last season).
Even though the aforementioned five actors have re-signed, the “Downton” cast is rather large and there are many actors not signed on yet, including Dan Stevens, Siobhan Finneran, Jessica Brown Findlay and Maggie Smith. That doesn’t mean they won’t, however.
ITV, the channel that airs the program in Britain, has yet to actually commission Seasons 4 and 5, so we wouldn’t read anything into the ones who have not signed on. But we are over the moon about the ones who have signed on and the prospect of three more seasons with our favorite British family and their servants.
