Warning: “Downton Abbey” Season 4 has not finished airing in the United States, but the show has started filming Season 5 in the U.K. Do not keep reading if you don’t want to know anything about Sunday’s (Feb. 23) season finale.
Pictures have made their way online (via the Daily Mail) of Michelle Dockery and Tom Cullen filming a scene for “Downton’s” fifth season, production for which just got underway. In the scene, Dockery’s Lady Mary Crawley can be seen kissing Cullen’s Lord Anthony Gillingham outside a building meant to represent the Grand Hotel in Liverpool.
Does this mean Lady Mary has made her choice?
As Season 4 winds down, Mary is caught between two men, the besotted Gillingham and the more prickly (but still besotted because — it’s Lady Mary) Charles Blake (Julian Ovenden). She doesn’t make a choice in the fourth-season finale, but perhaps these pictures indicate that Mary has chosen to pursue a romance with Lord Gillingham.
We’re hoping that she actually continues to see them both, since that makes for such an interesting dynamic — plus, we think Blake is actually a better match for her. What do you think, readers?
“Downton Abbey” wraps up its fourth season with a two-hour season finale Sunday (Feb. 23) at 9 p.m. ET/PT on PBS.
